Enduring below freezing temperatures and winds blowing more than 13 miles per hour didn’t stop the Tigers when they took down Caldwell Friday afternoon.
From the beginning, Rockdale was in control with the ball near their goal for much of the game with Fernando Gonzales putting the Blue-and-Gold up 1-0 with 14:27 left in the first half.
RHS built a safety net in the second half with a goal from Enrique Rivera and another one from Marvin Mata when he was given a free kick later in the game to put the Tigers up 3-0, what was eventually the game’s final score.
Rockdale is now 3-2 in district play with wins over Hearne and rival Cameron. They were scheduled to close out their first half of district on Tuesday with Smithville and face Hearne again on the road Friday, but due to weather conditions around the state, the likelihood of the games are up in the air.
As of press time, the Hearne game is still scheduled and the game with Smithville has been moved to 3 p.m. Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
LADY TIGERS—Unlike the Tigers, the Lady Tigers had their district matchup in La Grange postponed due to weather and travel concerns.
Also similar to the boys, they didn’t play on Tuesday after press time against rival Cameron and will host the Lady Yoe on Saturday prior to the Tigers game at 1 p.m., on Saturday.
