Rockdale High School track teams made many positive strides at Caldwell’s Happy Skrabanek Relays last Thursday, where the Tigers placed third as a team and the Lady Tigers earned four bronze and two silver medals.

For the Tigers, freshman Timothy Grice won the 200-meter dash and also took home gold with Alec Silva, Robert Owens and Kobe Mitchell in the sprint relay.

The other Tiger relay teams also made a good showing in Burleson County. Silva, Tristan Galvan, Erik Sheppard and Aiden Hirt earned silver in the 4x400-meter relay and Grice, Silva, Owens and Galvan took home bronze medals in the 4x200-meter er relay.

RHS junior Devon Hicks also won gold, winning the pole vault earlier in the day. His classmate Yovanney Delgadillo took home a silver medal in the 3200-meter and the mile while Jesus Bocanegra placed fifth in the same race. Wyatt Windham placed third in the high jump and Grice also finished third in the long jump.

Other top finishers for the boys in Blue-and-Gold were Amarion Butler, who placed fifth in the 400-meter run and Kobe Mitchell, who earned a fifthplace finish in the 100-meter dash. Owens placed fourth in the triple jump and sixth in the 300-hurldes. Gerren Marrero also competed in the triple jump, placing sixth.

LADY TIGERS—According to coach Kelsey Hudson, the girls team made a strong showing at Hornet Stadium where Taylor Delz took home the team’s lone silver medal of the night in the 400-meter run.

Delz also won a bronze in the 200. Other bronze medalists were Julie Bartsch, who placed third in the shot put, and Ciara Miles, who took home hardware in 300-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash. Ivanna Luna-Hernandez placed fourth in the 3200-meter run and T’Niyah Miles took fourth in the discus.

THIS WEEK—Tiger and Lady Tiger track teams return to action on Thursday at the Thrall Relays. This will be the final meet for both teams before the District 19-3A meet in Cameron, April 6-7.
