Several members of the Rockdale Tiger football team were named to the 3A-Division I District 11 All-District teams.
Cam’ron Valdez and Ty Mayberry headlined the Tiger award winners with Valdez winning the District 11 Offensive Most Valuable Player award and Mayberry being named Outstanding Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Kesean Raven, Kobe Mitchell, Alex Ellison, Chase Mayfield, and Davioun Scott were named to the all-district first team on Monday.
Hagen Land, Anthony Dansby, Keymani Hamilton, Christian Briggs, Cade Pantaleon, Bruce Mayfield, and Drayton Castaneda were named second team All-District.
Cedric Mitchell, Chris Vargas, Scott (as a running back), Aaron Avila, Ethan Taylor, Lane Rickman, Valdez (as a defensive lineman), Enrique Rivera, Cruz San Miguel, Dansby (as a defensive back), Bryce Govan-Miller, Land (as a defensive back) and Gavin Aguilar were given honorable mention.
Jace Robinson, Chase Mayfield, Raven, Mayberry, Dansby, Briggs, Rivera, Land, Govan-Miller, Pantaleon, Tucker Prestridge, Jake Hasselbach, Avila and Ellison were all selected to the academic all-district team.
“These selections are just a testament to the respect our players have throughout the district,” RHS Head Coach Jacob Campsey said.
The Tigers finished with a record of 6-5 on the season and 4-2 in district play.
They qualified for the 3A playoffs this season making it the ninth year in the row for Rockdale, which is currently the longest streak in Rockdale football history.
