Rockdale Coach Jacob McMurtry shook up the lineup and the batting order and the Tigers grabbed the early lead in the second inning when Tyler Caldwell tripled to centerfield with two outs and was brought home on Flores’ single to left.
The score remained the same until the fifth inning when Academy erupted for five runs, using a walk, three singles and a triple to move around the bases and sent nine batters to the plate. The big blow came on Jake Nichols’ triple to left to plate two runs.

Brandon Hernandez opened the bottom of the sixth inning with a walk, followed by Devon Whitsel’s single to left field.
Perry then smacked a double to right-center-field to plate Hernandez and Whitsel to close the gap to 7-3 and then Zac Davis sliced an opposite field single to left to make it 7-4.
The Tigers chased Academy starter Bryson Lawhon in the inning after the big lefthander threw 89 pitches and fanned seven Tigers. Reliever Cole River retired five straight batters to end the game.
