Rockdale cross country runners finished at the front of their respective races at the Lexington Cross Country Meet on Saturday, Sept.

“It went really well,” said Coach Cheryl Darby. “The course was longer than our typical race, so we couldn’t work on personal records. Our varsity girls and junior high boys did really well.”

In the varsity boys’ three-mile race, Isaac Fuentes finished second with a time of 20:28. Four other Tiger runners placed in the meet: 21. Albert Silva 23:22; 23. A.J. Hicks 23:35; 29. Brian Bell 24:56 and 35. Layne Rash 27:05.

In the varsity girl’s two-mile race, the Lady Tigers placed third in the team totals with three runners in the top ten. Ivanna Luna placed first with a time of 15:19. Marina Costilla placed ninth with a time of 16:25, followed by Cady Barcak, who trailed Costilla by just four seconds with a tenth place finish in 16:29. Lady Tigers who placed in the race were: 28. Tasha San Migel 18:07; 35. Jesenia Navarro 18:56 and 37. Alize Llanas 19:14.

Junior varsity – In the junior varsity girl’s race, the Lady Tigers had four girls place: 14. Leigh Hollan 19:11;

20. Lilliana Torres 20:11; 22. Vivian Montelongo 20:31 and 30. Mercedes Ramirez 22:28

In the junior high boy’s race, the Tigers placed second as a team and two runners placed in the top ten.

Joel Scott finished fifth with a time of 14:45, and Jesus Bocanegra placed eighth with a time of 15:25.

The Tigers had ten other runners place in the race: 18. Christo Hernandez 16:09; 22. Pyrce Delarosa 16:26; 27. Jose Tenorio 16:42; 29. Lorenzo Rivera 16:50; 30. Christopher Perez 16:51; 61. Sebastian Ruelas 19:03; 66. Diego Garza 19:19; 79. Dominique Clark 20:42; 80. Mason Willard 20:43 and 82. Coylton Malkey 21:15.

Two runners placed for the Lady Tigers junior high girl’s team: 16. Avery Hendrix 18:43 and 63. Jill Eubanks 23:41.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will run their next meet on Saturday, Sept. 15, in Caldwell.
