WHITNEY—The Rock-dale Tigers will send seven athletes to the Class 3A, Region III meet Friday and Saturday at Clyde Hart Stadium on the campus of Baylor University in Waco.
Three Tigers will be making return trips to Hart Stadium, in Gavin Young, Dylan David and Payton Miller.
Young equaled his season best and leapt 13-6 in the pole vault to claim first at the area meet.
Young earned a trip to the state track meet in 2017 and is aiming for another.
The junior finished second at regional last year after jumping 13-9.
The versatile Young is also a member of the 800-meter relay team.
Miller clocked in at 16.90 for third at area in the 100-meter hurdles for her second appearance at regional.
Dylan David, a part of the 2016 state champion Tiger track team, will join the 800-meter relay squad, which appeared at regional last year.
David was a member of the Tigers’ 400-meter relay team that performed at the state meet last season.
Regional newcomers will include Armoni Mack who placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.19.
Brandi Caffey measured 9-foot-6 in the pole vault for second place and earn her first trip to the regional meet.
Speedster Will Storey, who is also a part of the 800-meter relay team, streaked to a 11.20 timing in the 100-meter dash for second place.
Nathan Newlin is also a first-timer running a leg on the 800-meter relay team.
Tyler Lehmkuhl heaved the discus a season-best 156-feet for second place in his first regional appearance.
