The Rockdale Tigers racked up 12 hits in the doubleheader the team hosted against Milano last Saturday.
In the first game, the Tigers were able to claim the victory with a score of 12-4. The Tigers came out firing on the offensive end with Drayton Casteneda doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring a run in the first inning. Pitcher Enrique Rivera pushed the Tigers to a win, as he allowed zero runs in three innings. Colton Ellis, Pablo Hernandez, and Tyler Stewart all played well in relief of the bullpen to help the Tigers gain the victory.
In the second part of the doubleheader. Rockdale defeated Milano again with a score of 6-4.
This win didn’t come as easy for Rockdale as the Tigers saw a five-run lead almost slip away.
The Tigers dominated the game for the first six innings. Ryan Blair was an ace for the Tigers allowing three hits and zero runs by striking out five Milano players.
Milano stormed back in the seventh inning to score four runs. Drayton Casteneda, Devon Whitsel and Bruce Mayfield each made one hit to hold off Milano and seal the victory.
Base stealing was also a key factor in the game as the Tigers stole eight total.
Danny Cloud took the loss for Milano, as he allowed three hits and six runs while striking out 5.
The Tigers will have played Buffalo Tuesday in Buffalo Tuesday. Results will be in next week’s issue.
MILANO—The Eagles will play in the Burton Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
