Rockdale Tigers running back Cam’ron Valdez has cemented himself as one of the best running backs in the Class of 2021.
Rated the No. 4 all-purpose running back in the country by rivals.com, a college recruiting website, Valdez received 24 offers from Division I schools.
Valdez released a video via Twitter on Friday announcing that he has narrowed his university choices to seven—Texas Tech, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Arizona St., Arkansas and Utah.
The 5-foot 10-inch, 180-pound senior who rushed for 1,522 yards and 28 touchdowns last season has said he wants to break the school touchdown and rushing records.
He was rated as the No. 341 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 17 running back in the country and the No. 50 overall player in Texas according to 247sports.com.
“On top of being extremely talented he always goes hard,” Head Football Coach Jacob Campsey said. “He has the speed and strength, but his work ethic is one of his best attributes.”
According to 247sports.com Crystal Ball Predictions, insiders believe that TTU is currently in the driver’s seat to land Valdez.
“I stand very strong with Texas Tech,” Valdez told Jarret Johnson of 247sports. “I hear from them pretty often, talking about how their recruiting class is different from the past and they are about to make something shake.”
The 4-star running back has plenty of time to make his decision as National Signing Day isn’t until Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021 for seniors.
