SLOW. Water stained; 84 degrees; 3.45 feet above pool.
Although access returned to most ramps last week, courtesy docks are still unusable at most locations.
White bass and hybrid stripers can be caught downrigging just above the band of bait holding at 20-25 feet below the surface. Use a small Pet Spoon in silver with a white tail on a multirig, so four baits can be trolled behind each downrigger. Surface activity has been limited. Most action has been small, youngof- the-year white bass of 3.5-4 inches in length. Still, keep a topwater rod ready for any schools that may pop up.
Report by Bob Maindelle, Holding the Line Guide Service.
Catfish are fair. The action has slowed for blue catfish compared to prior weeks. Anchoring around underwater points and slow drifting deeper river channels has been best. Smaller baits have had the most success rates.
Flathead activity has picked up around river mouths and structure.
Anglers shouldn’t be afraid to fish the shallow flats.
