RHS running back Cam’ron Valdez has cemented himself as one of the greatest Rockdale football players of all time. One week after breaking the alltime rushing record, Valdez now reigns as the touchdown king after breaking the all-time touchdown record on Friday against Cameron.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be No. 1 among some great athletes to come through Rockdale,” Valdez said. “It’s a blessing to play beside my brothers every Friday night, and for them to enjoy blocking for me means a lot.”

With his two touchdown performance on Friday, Valdez has now acquired 40 touchdowns in his RHS career. The former record of 39 touchdowns was held by Jaqualyn Crawford, who played for Rockdale from 2014-2018.

Valdez says that he wanted to break this record for his family and how the passing of his cousin, Latrell Williams, in 2017 motivated him to pursue it.

“I feel accomplished,” Valdez said. “I have been driven by my cousin’s death my freshman year. I did this for our family to be remembered forever.”

RHS Head Coach Jacob Campsey praised Valdez on the accomplishment and the effort he gives the team every game.

“I am extremely happy for Cam’ron to get this record,” Campsey said. “Valdez has family that lives in Cameron, so the game was extremely important to him. For him to break the record during that game was an amazing accomplishment.”

With four games left in the regular season, Valdez will look to add to his totals and be at the top of the record books for a long time.
