In Texas Football Magazine’s Rising, a recruiting guide for high school football players around the state, Rockdale’s Cam’Ron Valdez was named to the Top 100 recruits from the Class of 2021.
The publication said Valdez was a “Big-play threat as a runner and shows good burst and acceleration.”
Rising also said that he has showed promise in pass-catching opportunities and can elude defenders in close quarters.
The RHS junior led the Tigers in rushing this season with 1,697 yards and 27 rushing touchdowns.
He goes into his senior campaign with 2.905 rushing yards, which is 484 yards shy of Don Wesley’s all-time school record for career rushing yards of 3, 389 that has been unbroken since the close of the 1977 season.
During this fall, Valdez has seen a mountain of interest from BCS schools all over the country such as West Virginia, Purdue, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Utah, Texas Tech and Kansas.
