Going into his 15th season as Thorndale’s head baseball coach, Kelly Kuhl has a roster with junior Logan Davis as the player with varsity experience.

“Overall, we are young and inexperienced,” Kuhl said. “Not getting to play last year really hurt us experience wise.

“(But) I feel that we are getting better every time we go out and that’s all you can ask for. These kids are putting in the work and it’s starting to show.”

They went 2-2 at the Sacred Heart tourney in Hallettsville this past weekend. While there, they fell to Shiner 9-7, a top-team that they share a regional with. With district already underway,

With district already underway, with a game against Milano played Tuesday after press time, the Bulldogs co-host a tournament with Rockdale this weekend. Kuhl wants to use this weekend for his team to work on being consistent offensively, defensively and developing their pitching.

Thorndale opens up the tourney against Manor at 9 a.m. Thursday. On Friday, they play Class 4A Smithville at 11:30 a.m., and Lexington at 2 p.m. Saturday’s game times will be determined by their results from the first two days.
