Although we typically shine a light on the elder members of our community, we know that the youth are just as if not more important to the future of Rockdale. After all, if we don’t invest in the youth, we aren’t doing our community any favors.
That’s why this week, Alpha One is honoring Rockdale High School senior Tra’on Crawford as our Young Inspirational Hero. We didn’t select Tra’on because of one particular event, we picked him because of the person he is day in and day out. Whether he’s in the halls of RHS, in the dugout with his teammates or dealing with customers at his job, one constant with Tra’on is his kindness. He’s fun to be around with his friends but also the type of student that teachers, coaches and other adults know they can depend on. Tra’on has played varsity baseball for the Tigers since his freshman year (2021 first team all-district short stop) and doesn’t leave the diamond much as he also plays with Round Rock’s THZ Baseball Academy outside of school. He also plays tennis, umpires youth baseball games and is a member of True Love Family Worship Center (Church) in Cameron. Tra’on plans to attend Prairie View A&M University in the fall. In addition to everything he does, he’s probably made your sweet tea or cherry limeade at Sonic so if you see him or hear his voice through the speaker taking your order, be sure to tell him hello!
Alpha One wants to thank Tra’on for reminding us how important kindness and positivity is and we’re confident it will take him far in life and that he’ll find new roads to take him even further!
