There’s a reason why, as the days tick down on any year, the old year which is fading into history is depicted as an old man trying not to trip over his white beard. Because it certainly feels that way.

2020 New Year’s Resolutions: Yea or nay?

Are any of you making New Year’s Resolutions? I stopped making them several years ago and only think about making changes in a general way. Like trying to eat better, get more exercise, but never anything very specific. Perhaps that has been my downfall.

RISD students big part of Roundup success

Rockdale Christmas Roundup was another huge undertaking again this year, and Rockdale ISD provided it’s much needed support for the success of this event. As in prior years, students and staff members from all four Rockdale ISD campuses had the opportunity to volunteer or donate items and cash.

Fair enough

The Rockdale Fair has been filling up Fair Park for 44 years the third week in October and it’s going to be doing the same for the next 44 years.

Memories of Christmas in Rockdale

With Christmas coming up I’ve been thinking of some childhood memories involving this special holiday. Gertrude Hale used to have a beautiful Christmas party every year. She put hundreds of candles all over the house and didn’t turn the lights on.

County is making good progress

Your county government made a lot of progress in 2019 and Milam County is truly “Moving Forward.” Progress was made in county wide unity, economic development, cleanup improvements, healthcare and sanitary regulations, with a lot of “firsts.
