Mother’s Day, Rotary club, a talking dog

Mom decided she wanted steak for Mother’s Day and tried to make reservations for Saturday night at Piano Bar, but they were unexpectedly closed that night. So we ended up going to Bob’s Steakhouse in Cameron, where I’d never been before.

Dear editor, The American Legion members of Post 358 held their monthly meeting May 5. We had a couple of guests. One was Luke Olivares, a Rockdale High School student. Luke shared with us some of the things that are going on in his life. He is very active in school activities and community service.

Desire of the everlasting hills

On the mantle above our fireplace is an ivory- white rock weighing about four pounds. We found it up on the side of U.S. Highway 385 between Big Bend National Park and Marathon. A plaque nearby designates the mountain range there as the Ouachita Fold Belt.

Pray about everything

I’ve been teaching out of 1st Timothy on Sunday morning and last Sunday we bumped into the Apostle Paul’s words concerning prayer to this youngish pastor named Timothy who was stuck in Ephesus.

Don’t forget about the annual MARC Ride coming June 14. This ride is even more important to the MARC Center since they have lost their state funding and can use all the money they can get to continue their programs.
