Fair Assn. scholarships available for area seniors

Milam County high school seniors who have shown projects and have met the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply for scholarships from the Rockdale Fair Association. The association has awarded over $10,000 annually in scholarship money to further their education.

An Eastside Conversation will be held at Moon Brew Coffee Co., 109 N. Main St., on Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will meet Mayor Ward Roddam, hear updates from the cit y and be given an opportunity to ask questions. All citizens are welcome to attend.

Master Gardner classes Feb. 5th

The Little River Basin Master Gardener Association has extended the registration date for its 2025 training program to Feb. 1. This course contains the curriculum necessary to become a Master Gardener in Milam County. The training will run from Feb. 5 through mid-May on Wedne sday s from 8 a.m.

Master Naturalists classes begin

Texas Master Naturalist Courses began on Jan. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Cameron. “If you are passionate about native Texas plants and animals you are welcome to joins us,” said organizer Linda Burgess.

Looking ahead at the temperatures, it looks like Rockdale will get up into the 60s, but nighttime temps will still be cold. I ran across this unique bean recipe recently. I love butter beans, but I would never have thought to add cheese.
