St. John’s United Methodist Church will host a Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 3-5 p.m. which is free to all children through fifth grade. The Festival will feature games, a bounce house, fish pond, face painting, basketball throw and more.

Early voting begins Monday

Although not visible to the naked eye, Crystal Denman used some camera tricks to take these pictures of the aurora borealis from her property near Minerva. A solar storm caused the lights to be partially visible in southern states which is significantly less common than in the northern states.

Annual Rockdale Christmas Roundup under way

Plans for Rockdale Christmas Roundup are now underway. Applications can be picked up at The Rockdale Reporter, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale Senior Citizen Center, Hunter’s Chase, McCawley Oaks, and local churches. Applications are also available at all school campuses and district offices.

Stash your trash

The City or Rockdale will hold a Stash Your Trash event on Oct. 26 at Fair Park from 8 a.m. to 12-noon. Containers will be set up for the free disposal of miscellaneous household items like old furniture and mattresses. Enter on Mill Street at the main gate and exit gate 5 at Roberts Street.
