First Friday Coffee

Crown Garden Club is hosting First Friday Coffee at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library this Friday, June 7. The coffee runs from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and all are welcome.

POSGCD announces annual summit, free water testing

Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) announces the Annual Groundwater Summit and its upcoming free well water quality testing campaign this summer. These events aim to engage the community, provide valuable information and promote water conservation and safety.

Annual MARC Ride to be held Saturday

The 23rd annual MARC Ride will be held this Saturday, June 8 at The Ranch with registration starting at 9 a.m. The MARC Ride is the major source of income for the Milam Adult Resource Center (MARC) and the ride has raised over $400,000 for the center over the years.

Homecoming set for Sunday

Rockda le’s Cit y wide Homecoming will be held on Sunday, June 9 at the Patterson Civic Center beginning at 9 a.m. with coffee and visiting. Lunch is $20 and will be catered by A Touch of Elegance catering.

Milam County has had some strange weather with storms and rain during the past couple of months. Robbie Stauffer Breithaupt caught this cloud formation Friday morning on South US 77 in Forest Grove.

This is all that’s left of Milam County’s oldest cottonwood tree as it was taken down last week due to its rotten core which caused it to become a liability for the city. The tree could easily have fallen onto the nearby house or into the park which is regularly visited by Rockdale citizens.
