Christmas Roundup deadline Dec. 2nd

Plans for Rockdale Christmas Roundup are now underway. Applications can be picked up at The Rockdale Reporter, Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, Citizens National Bank, Classic Bank, Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale City Hall and local churches.

Springfield Baptist’s 150th anniversary

Springfield Missionary Baptist Church will hold their annual homecoming for their 150th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. The speaker will be Bishop Billy Walker from Turning Point Church in Dallas. There have been three different church buildings on the same spot over the past 150 years.

Christmas Craft Market set for Nov. 19

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is holding a Christmas Craft Market at Wolf Park on Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy face painting for the kids, music, food and arts and crafts around the lighted Christmas tree. En Gedi Vineyards will be there and Texas Beer Co. will be serving.

Christmas tree lighting set for November 17th

The Rockdale Downtown Association’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Wolf Park. Chili and hot chocolate will be served starting at 6 p.m. and the tree lighting will be at 7 p.m. Bring lawn chairs for seating.

My favorite barista (our youngest son Jack) drove an old red Jeep with square headlights while he was in high school and college. When you got it up to 60 mph you felt like you were landing the space shuttle. It shook like an earth reentry. Very fun to drive.

‘Effects of vaping lab’

The Rockdale Junior High 7th grade science class conducted an “Effects of Vaping Lab” last week. Students had just wrapped up a unit on cell cycle, cell organelles, mitochondria and functions as well as the 11 body systems and their functions.

Five felony arrests, one traffic accident during past week

Rockdale Police Officers made five felony arrests dur ing the past week including: • Bryan Morley Freeman, 27, Cameron, was arrested on Wednesday by Sgt. Byron Frankland for criminal trespass and terroristic threat against a peace officer. He was transported directly to the Milam County Jail.
