San Gabriel Baptist receives historical cemetery marker

The Texas Historical Commission (THC) has recognized San Gabriel Baptist Church in Thorndale as a significant part of Texas history by awarding a Texas Historical marker. A dedication ceremony to commemorate the event will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at the church.

Washington Heights to get resurveyed

Rockdale City Manager Barbara Holly released a Request For Qualifications (RFQ) for a land surveyor for the Washington Heights neighborhood to be replotted.

On Oct. 19, 1895, the Rockdale City Council approved the following for the new City Hall: a payment of $129.60 was approved for Henry Struve, the new contractor. Water Tipps was paid $3 for wiring the building. Elgin Press Brick was paid $57.20 for brick.
