What is an Emergency Services District?

Kain Dodd, Chairman of the Milam County ESD Advisory Committee, presented his grassroots plan to create an Emergency Services District in Milam County to eventually replace AMR at last week’s city council meeting.

Topics of discussion announced for August groundwater summit

The annual Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit will be held August 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Caldwell Civic Center. All are welcome to attend. The Summit is free and open to the public with lunch provided.

It’s D. Lee Alcorn Day on Saturday in Grand Prairie by mayoral proclamation

Mayor of Grand Prairie Ron Jensen made a proclamation that July 23 is D. Lee Alcorn Day. Mr. Alcorn is a graduate of the 1956 class of Aycock High School in Rockdale, but has lived in Grand Prairie for the past 49 years. Alcorn holds his proclamation (L) and a copy of it is on the right.

Five felony arrests made over past week by Rockdale officers

Rockdale Police Officers made five felony arrests during the past week including: • Ignacio Melchor, 40, Rockdale, was arrested on Saturday by Ofc. Krejci on an Austin Pardon and Parole Board warrant for parole violation of theft of property less than $1,500.
