$1,000 adult scholarships available from Rotary Club

Rockdale Rotary Club will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships to adults wishing to further their education. Applicants must have graduated high school or received a GED prior to 2022.

ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILLS—The Milam County Sheriff’s Department, along with their partner agencies, will again have active shooter drills next week in Cameron on Monday and in Milano on Wednesday.

Speakers announced for Groundwater Summit set for Aug. 18th in Caldwell

The 2022 Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit has been set for Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All are encouraged to attend. The summit is free and open to the public with lunch provided. It will be held at the Caldwell Civic Center at 103 TX-21 in Caldwell.

San Miguel, Masek to attend leadership camp

Cruz San Migel (Rockdale High School) and Madison Masek (Thorndale High School), incoming juniors, have been selected to attend RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) Camp. The RYLA program is an intensive training experience for incoming juniors and seniors.

4-H’er Miller attends state water ambassador training

Milam County 4-H member, Robert Miller, attended the State Water Ambassador Training the week of June 27th. Robert has served as a State Water Ambassador last 4-H year and will be entering in his second term this year.

County 4-H enrollment starts Sept. 1

Milam County 4-H will start enrollment on September 1st. You can enroll online by going to www. join4h.com and select the Join 4-H link on the front page. Enrollment for 4-H members is $25 per member and $10 per volunteer. We have a variety of 4-H projects and opportunities for you to do in 4-H.

Four arrested on felony charges

Rockdale police officers made four felony arrests during the past week including: • David Campbell, 37, Rockdale, was arrested on Thursday by Ofc. Hensley for two charges of assault on a peace officer/judge, attempt to take weapon from peace officer and resisting arrest.
