Heavenly Treasures shifts their open days

Heavenly Treasures is now open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 9 a.m.-noon. June’s special is Tuesday’s only men’s clothing items $1 and a free baseball cap.

‘Light it up’

Milano ISD Athletic Department has began a “Light it Up” fundraising campaign to get lights on its baseball field. The school has had a baseball program for over two decades, but never a lighted field. The softball field got lights just a few weeks ago.

July 4th parade

The city of Milano has announced its annual Independence Day parade will take place this year. However, the event will take place on Saturday, July 3. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. in the football field parking lot.

Football camp

A freshman football camp will be held for incoming freshmen July 26-27. The camp is free and will be held from 8-11 a.m. both days. It will provide instruction, competitive drills and activities to get a jump-start on the upcoming season.

Sunflower Fun Run/Walk

Plans are in the works for the Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship Fun “Sunflower Fun Run/Walk.” The event is scheduled for Sept. 25 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. There is a kids’ one mile color run at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m.

Truck and tractor pull Friday, Saturday

The Rockdale Fair Association will hold the Texas Truck and Tractor Pull at the rodeo arena at Fair Park on June 11-12. Friday night the pull will begin at 7 p.m. with dancing under the stars from 8 to 12 p.m., with music provided by The Other Band.

Churches, city plan citywide swim evening

Local churches in partnership with the city of Rockdale are sponsoring an evening of fun June 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the pool in Veterans Park.  “This is a great way for families to start the summer,” said Raymon Puente, spokesman for the event that is open to all who wish to come.

Tire collection date change

The Milam County tire cleanup day will now take place June 12,  instead of June 5, 2021, due to the predicted rain this weekend. Any Milam County resident can bring old automobile, implement and tractor tires to the Precinct 3 headquarters located at 107 N.

Abbott wants his priorities passed

Calling on the need to pass his priority legislation, the governor of Texas said those issues will be discussed at a special session sometime this year.

County old tire cleanup day

Don’t forget that next Saturday is tire cleanup day in Milam County. Any Milam County resident (not involved in dumping litigation) may bring old automobile tires, implement and tractor tires to the Precinct 3 headquarters in Rockdale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and drop them off at no charge.
