We had a great time Sunday at a party for grandson Cameron Coopers’ girlfriend, Ashley Cary. She graduated from Texas A&M University and we enjoyed helping her celebrate her accomplishments. The party was held at the home of her grandparents in Wellborn and we thank them for inviting us.

Upcoming events highlighted; writer puts down her pen

Lots of things going on in our little town this summer, so be sure not to miss a thing. LIBERTY BRUNCH—Liberty Community Church will hold its fifth Sunday brunch on Sunday. Spokesperson Kathy Avery said that church will start at 9 a.m. and the meal will follow at 10.

School is out for summer – almost

School releases early Thursday for the summer. The schedule is as follows: RIS 11:45 a.m. RES 11:50 a.m. RHS 1:15 p.m. RJH 1:25 p.m.

American Legion plans crawfish, shrimp boil

American Legion Carlyle Post 358 is set to have a Crawfish and Shrimp Boil on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. until sold out. Meals are take-out or sit down at a table under the trees. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from American Legion members or by calling 512-446-2996 or 408-472-5272.

Water repairs close part of Green Street

Green Street will be closed to thru traffic between Thrall and Hamilton streets for water line repairs on May 20, 2021 until approximately 6 p.m.

RISD board name new principal

Rockdale ISD trustees named Renee Lee as the junior high school’s new principal at the May 17 regular board meeting. Lee will replace current principal Kelly Blair, who resigned.

RISD hires new maintenance chief

Rockdale ISD trustees named Cody Dudley as the district’s new maintenance director at the May 17 regular board meeting. Dudley will replace current maintenance director, Lance Weidler, who has tendered his resignation. Dudley is an employee in Rockdale ISD’s maintenance department.
