As the school year marches toward its end, districts in Rockdale and Thorndale got some morale boosting good news about the job they are doing educating youth in preparing them for college and life outside of high school.

New variant strains of the coronavirus showing up in Milam County

Testing in Milam County has revealed different strains of the virus that causes COVID-19. “We have three cases of the – B.1.1.7, which is the U.K. variant. We also have three cases of the B.1.1.2 (wild variant) and one case of the B.1.1.519 Mexico variant.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of the each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Students keep active, learning with programs

At Rockdale Elementary School, we have many activities that our students are involved in that enhance our core curriculum. Two of these programs are the iTigers program and the physical education program. Coach David Monroe has a dual role at Rockdale ISD.

Downtown Thorndale to be in zombie show The AMC production company wrapped up filming scenes of “Fear the Walking Dead” Saturday in Thorndale. The network had used Main Street for footage that will be used in upcoming episodes of the television show.

Man arrested after hitting cars, driving onto yard

Saturday at 3:14 p.m. officer Zachery Krejci responded to 418 Oak St. in reference to an accident with injury. Krejci found that a pickup had been driven into a yard and then hit two vehicles. The driver of the pickup, who had a Mineral Wells address, was placed under arrest for DWI.

Sheriff’s deputies check on ‘bear’ out for a long walk from L.A.

A bear, by the name of Bearsun, got stopped by the cops while out for a walk in California. The police only wanted to make sure The police only wanted to make sure that Jesse Lasios, the man in the bear suit, was OK, reports the Association of Mature American Citizens.
