Peanut butter may not seem like a typical “diet” food when reading a nutrition label. After all, peanut butter is high in calories and fat, even for a small portion size of a tablespoon or two. However, many health experts point to peanut butter (in moderation) as a smart option.

Milano FFA welding team places in top 10

Mi lano FFA students participated in the Texas High School Welding Series contest where they fabricated a barbed wire fire pit. The team placed in the top 10. Congratulations Jaxon Ditto, Coton Kirk, Colten Stewart, and Jac Christman. Milano’s Homecoming was a great success.

Police sponsor Rockdale Night Out on Oct. 7th

Rockdale Police Department welcomes the public to Rockdale Night Out on Tuesday, October 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Patterson Civic Center. The initiative promotes community-building and strengthens police-community partnerships to prevent crime.

RISD looking for campus education council members

Rockdale ISD is looking for parents, business representatives and community representatives to serve on Campus Educational Councils at all campuses. Campus and District Educational Councils serve as advisory groups to the principals and Superintendent but have no regulatory powers.

RHS Class of 1962 meets Saturday Rockdale High School Class of 1962 will hold their reunion on Saturday. The class will meet at 11 a.m. at Julio’s Mexican Restaurant. Rising Star’s 118th anniversary on Sunday Rising Star Baptist Church will hold its 118th anniversary celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday.
SEPTEMBER’S YARD OF THE MONTH— John and Stacey Williams, 1904 Skyles Road, were awarded Rockdale Earth Day’s Yard of the Month for September. Rockdale Earth Day Chairperson David Melton said, “Their neatly manicured lawn has several large, beautiful shade trees, blooming Crape Myrtle trees, and a variety of annuals, perennials and shrubs creating wonderful curb appeal for this westside address.” The Williams will receive a gift certificate to Giddings Nursery and Garden Center.
