Annual Thanksgiving community meal Nov. 21 The 20th annual Community Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner will be held at First Baptist Church on Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m. until sold out. This year there will be no dine in available. Meals will be delivered in drivethrough style.

In an effort to raise money for child cancer research, the Rockdale Police Department started a “Beard it up/Color for the Cure” fundraiser to run from Nov. 1, 2020 to Jan. 31, 2021. To participate, RPD members will donate $50 for November, $75 for December and $100 for January.

ROCKDALE POLICE REPORT

Police worked two accidents last week with both of them along or near Cameron Avenue. On Thursday a 4:57 p.m., there was a two-vehicle wreck off the roadway near Wilcox and Cameron. No injuries were reported in the crash involving a pickup and a Lexus, the report said.

FIRE CALLS

• Tuesday, 9:06 a.m., the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a one-vehicle wreck near FM 486 and FM 908. • Wednesday, 6:32 p.m. the Rockdale Fire Department responded to South US 77 and CR 313 for a vehicle that was smoking after the driver hit a deer. • Thursday, 2:22 p.m.

We recently bought a new house and our 10-pound dust mop of a dog, Buster, is not adjusting well. Buster is a 13-year-old Shih Tzu who seems to suffer from anxiety. He is half-blind and nearly deaf and the transition to our new house is proving to be a hardship.

Rockdale Rotary Club recently donated $200 to the group of businesses, churches and citizens responsible for the annual Rockdale Community Outreach Thanksgiving Dinner for the Nov. 21 meal at First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

Thorndale ‘after prom’ fish fundraiser Sunday The Thorndale “after prom” committee is hosting a fish fry dinner fundraiser at 11 a.m. Sunday at the VFW. The money raised will go toward an after prom party for Thorndale High School students.
