• Raymond Jochec, 69, Cameron, pleaded guilty to indecency with child-exposes on July 23. After a pre-sentence investigation and a sentencing hearing, he was placed on five years deferred adjudication, ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and $3,180 restitution to child’s parents.

First school rule: ‘Be there on time every single day’

I’m sure that all of us are aware that school attendance is important. “Being there” is half the battle with any task we undertake. What many don’t realize is how critical attendance is to the learning process.

Milam County 4-H will observe National 4-H Week Oct. 5-10 by highlighting some of the inspirational 4-H youth in our community who are working tirelessly to support each other and their communities.

ONLY ONE CASE WEDNESDAY

From County Judge Steve Young Wednesday night: I am happy to report we only had one new confirmed PCR test and two probable cases in Milam County today.  Eight persons were discharged and no one was admitted to the hospital.  Wednesday, we tested eight individuals in Milano with one positive.

EIGHT NEW CASES TUESDAY

From County Judge Steve Young Tuesday night:\ Tuesday we have eight new confirmed cases of the virus in Milam County.  In addition we have two probable cases.  Nine active cases were discharged and five were added to the monitored list.

ANOTHER COVID-19 DEATH IN MILAM

From County Judge Steve Young Monday night: I regret to report another COVID death in Milam County.  This was a senior male resident of the county from the 76520-zip code (Cameron area). This is a grim reminder that the virus is alive and well.

NO NEW CASES OVER WEEKEND

  County Judge Steve Young reported Monday morning there were no new cases of COVID-19 confirmed over the weekend fior Milam County.   That included both the PCR and antigen (quick) tests.  Young said the active case count has dropped to 11.

THREE NEW CASES FRIDAY

From County Judge Steve Young Friday night: Friday we had three new PCR cases to report and four new probable (antigen) cases to report.  We have no new hospital admissions or discharges to report.  Twelve individuals were tested in Buckholts today with three positive tests.
