From County Judge Steve Young: Sunday we had a young athlete test positive for the virus.  This young person practiced last week and then scrimmaged on Friday evening and Saturday morning.  On Sunday the person had symptoms and tested positive.

WEEKEND COVID-19 REPORT QUESTIONED

Milam County Judge Steve Young said no new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the state over the weekend. "I think there was some sort of a mixup by the state," he said. "The same thing happened last weekend." Cumulative case count remains 346 with 32 active.

NINE NEW CASES ON FRIDAY

From County Judge Steve Young Friday night: Today we have nine new cases to report.  However, the Health Department discharged three cases and none were hospitalized.

Sales tax holiday set on weekend

Shoppers can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday, Saturday and Sunday, The law exempts sales tax on qualified items — such as clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks — priced below $100, saving shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.

'Remote’ restrictions

Students in the Rockdale ISD who choose all-remote (on-line) as school starts won’t be able to participate in extra-curricular activities or take elective classes. School trustees met Friday and approved those restrictions.
