School set to begin Aug. 20th

The school year will start for Milano ISD students on Aug. 20. The district is offering both in-person and online education options to its students due to recommendations associated with the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Grand jury lists 56 indictments against 35 persons on Thursday

CAMERON—Thirty-five persons were indicted on 56 counts Thursday by a Milam County Grand Jury, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey. Torrey said the session replaced the July 16 grand jury session, which was canceled.

Sweet, savory zucchini recipes

Zucchini season is definitely here in Rockdale. We’ve all had different kinds of zucchini cake and they are all delicious, but here is one that I thought was very different from the rest and super delicious. And I love anything lemon-flavored.

REPORTER WINS STPA SWEEPSTAKES (AGAIN)

 For the 18th time, The Rockdale Reporter has won the Sweepstakes Award, the highest bestowed by the South Texas Press Association, the nation’s largest regional press association.  Awards for 2020 were announced online Friday, Aug. 7.

THREE NEW CASES

Milam County Judge Steve Young said late Tuesday  three new COVID-19 cases were reported in the county..  No new hospitalizations.

SIX NEW CASES

From County Judge Steve Young: Sunday we had a young athlete test positive for the virus.  This young person practiced last week and then scrimmaged on Friday evening and Saturday morning.  On Sunday the person had symptoms and tested positive.
