TEAMING UP TO FEED ROCKDALE—New Jerusalem Interdenominational Church has donated money to Sho’ Nuff Soul Food Diner to give away 100 meals to the people of Rockdale. The food will be given away at 11 a.m. Friday on a first come, first served basis. One plate per customer.

13TH MILAM COVID-19 CASE REPORTED

Milam County recorded its 13th case of COVID-19 Monday night. County Judge Steve Young said the person lives in, but does not work in, the county. Earlier in the day the county logged its first death from the virus.

FIRST MILAM DEATH FROM COVID-19

Milam County is now on the list of Texas counties reporting a death from the COVID-19 pandemic. County Judge Steve Young told The Reporter just after 10 a.m. Monday a woman "under 50" has died at a Temple hospital.

From County Judge Steve Young just before 4:20 Friday afternoon   1.   10th case in the County: We were called today by a local health care provider advising of a 10th confirmed case of the virus in the County. This is a local resident who was tested locally.

GOVERNOR CLOSES SCHOOLS FOR REMAINDER OF TERM

  Gov. Greg Abbott, in a noontime address Friday, announced Texas schools would remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school term.   His ramarks were part of a plan to gradually "re-open" the state from COVID-19 restrictions.

JUDGE; ONE PERSON 'SERIOUS' FROM COVID-19

  Milam County Judge Steve Young said Friday morning one of the nine confirmed Milam County COVID-19 cases remains in ICU in a Temple a hospital and is "serious."   He said six have recovered and two remain in self-quarantine.

CAMERON DAIRY QUEEN CLOSED AFTER EMPLOYEE TESTS POSITIVE

The Cameron Dairy Queen is closed until April 29 after an employee tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.   County Judge Steve Young said the employee is the previously-announced ninth COVID-19 positive test in the county.

Food program back at KC’s on Thursday

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will return to the KC Hall parking lot at 9 a.m. Thursday for its second “drive-through” free food distribution. Pam Warren, chair of Rockdale Christian Services, said the first one April 2 distributed food to 351 households with 881 individuals.
