Here is the Milam County Jail Log for the period of April 21-27. Jail logs list all persons charged with offenses through the county jail docket. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

Dana McClaren (right) is the newest board member of the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District. She represents agriculture on the 10-member board, which includes Milam and Burleson County members. McClaren, a Milam County resident, replaces Durwood Tucker.

A 52-year-old Thorndale man was arrested last week by the Milam County Sheriff’s Department and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Harlan Wayne Sekaquaptewa was released after posting $50,000 bond.

Troopers called to area accidents

Department of Public Safety state trooper were called to several traffic accidents on area roads during the past week. A two vehicle collision was reported at 8:37 p.m. April 22 on US 79 east of County Road 346.

Calvary Baptist Church on the Rock is holding in-person meetings again every Thursday at 7 p.m. The church is located at 1443 South FM 487. They are abiding by social distancing rules and have Plexiglass shields in place. Participants are asked to wear a mask.

It looks like things may start opening up and a “new normal” established with announcements and plans laid out by state and local government officials earlier this week. We are still passing the “stay home” time with fun family activities, especially baking.

Brookshire Bros. had bell peppers on sale the other day so I bought five red ones not knowing what I’d do with them. But I finally found a recipe and I didn’t have to buy one thing from the store. I already had everything else in either the pantry or freezer.

Guidelines for 65-and-over

Gov. Abbott noted Monday that 76 percent of all COVID-19 deaths in Texas were persons 65 and over. The “Open Texas” report included the following recommendations for senior Texans: • STAY HOME IF YOU CAN. • Minimize face-to-face contact with others. Avoid young children.
