In an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where it can be difficult to maintain social distancing measures.

Yard of the month

The yard of Lida Butler, 527 Bowser, has been named yard-of-the-month for May by the Rockdale Earth Day Committee which is administering the monthly awards. She received a $25 gift certificate from Bloomers Garden Center in Elgin.

Arrests clear cases

Rockdale Police cleared two cases from the previous week with arrests during the past seven days. Police made an arrest in connection with an incident in which they said a man trying to repossess a trailer was beaten on the face and arms with a fireplace implement.

MILAM COUNTY JAIL LOG

Here is the Milam County Jail Log for April 28-May 4. Jail logs list all persons charged with offenses through the county jail docket. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

Milam 4-H’ers put in spotlight

During the month of May, we are highlighting our Milam County 4-H seniors graduating in 2020. We are so proud of these youth as they have worked very hard, for most of them, over 10 years in 4-H. They have competed in numerous competitions and have gained skills they will use their entire life.

Milam railroad museum staying closed for now
