My screen time is way up. I mean way up. I went down early this morning (I’m writing this on Monday) and grabbed the rest of my commentaries from the office before anyone else came in (carried the Lysol with me and used it like a weapon). We are running a skeleton crew at the church. We are open.

Mama Kay’s icebox pie recipe

During this time of unprecedented events and circumstances, there are not many happenings for me to write about in this column space, so I am going to change it up a bit. My family and I are trying to not let our washed hands get too idle and have done a lot of baking in our self-quarantine time.

Icebox Pie

8 oz. cream cheese block 1 small can of sweetened condensed milk (prefer Eagle brand) 1/3 c. lemon juice 1 tsp.

Murray St. Church of Christ welcomes new pulpit minister

Glenn R. Redmond of the greater Wichita, Kansas, area has been named pulpit minister at Murray Street Church of Christ. He succeeds Jason Hollinger, who resigned last fall to accept a similar position at Central Church of Christ in Lufkin.

Rising Star sets up prayer line

Rising Star Baptist Church has established a prayer line open to everyone to join in “corporate prayer,” praying together in groups. Prayer will be led by Dr. R. L. Johnson, pastor of RSBC. Prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Mondays, 7:15 a.m. Wednesdays and 12-noon Fridays.

Finding faith during Holy Week and Easter

For many Christians, modern Easter celebrations would not be complete without bonnets, bunnies and colored eggs. As fun as those components can be, Christianity is at the heart of Easter, which is the most important date on the Christian religious calendar.

FINGERS CROSSED

  Milam County Judge Steve Young, in an update Sunday, said there have been no new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in the county.   Milam's total, as of midday Sunday, remains at two. The most recent one was reported Monday morning, March 23.

CAMPSEY NEW RHS HEAD COACH/AD

 Jacob Campsey, Rockdale High School defensive coordinator under Jeff Miller for the past six years, has been named to succeed Miller as head football coach/athletic director in the Rockdale ISD.  School trustees made that decision Thursday afternoon in a called session.
