Connect Church to meet at Patterson Center Connect Church will begin meeting at the Patterson Center on June 1 with services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Attendees are invited to come early for iced coffee. The church has a nursery and children’s church. All are welcome according to pastor Ken Ansell.

• Ofc. Wachtel responded to Dollar General for a minor two-vehicle accident with no injuries on May 20 at 1:26 p.m. • Ofc. Lentz responded to Ackerman at Cameron Ave. for a two-vehicle accident with no injuries on May 21 at 3:40 p.m. • Ofc. Wachtel responded near the intersection of Cameron Ave.

Responded to: • Rockdale Junior high for a gas leak on May 21 at 9:11 a.m. • 711 CR 335 for a trash pile on fire on May 23 at 11:46 a.m. • Near the intersection of South Wilcox and West Roberts Ave. for a single car accident with injuries on May 25 at 7:32 p.m.

MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCE— American Legion Carlyle Post 358 held a Memorial Day program on Monday celebrating service members from Milam County who lost their lives in WWI to present day. RHS students involved in FFA and NHS, Luke Olivares, Aiden Svrcek, Sebastian Lepe, James Cox and Cohen Razo, read the names of each hero as the audience responded “here” to each one. The Communities in Concert Band provided lively patriotic music to a packed house. Refreshments and visiting followed the program.

Another McDaniel is heading to Harvard. Rockdale High School’s 2025 Valedictorian Macy McDaniel will be headed to Cambridge, MA in the fall to join her sister Mallory McDaniel at the prestigious university.
