Students involved in FFA, student council and Rotary helped both the American Legion and VFW set up flags for Memorial Day along the street and on the grounds of Rockdale Memorial Company on Monday morning honoring Rockdale members of the armed services who have died in service to the country.

The 24th annual MARC Ride will be held on Saturday, June 14 at The Ranch with registration starting at 9 a.m. This annual ride benefits the Milam Adult Resource Center and is the centers biggest fundraiser of the year. The ride fee is $20 per rider or $25 if you have a passenger.

Free poppy seeds May 28

The poppies have put on their show, and now they’re ready to share their seeds. Little River Basin Master Gardeners will be at Triangle Demonstration Garden, North Washington Avenue and East 21st Street in Cameron (across from the junior high school soccer fields) on Wednesday, May 28, at 9 a.m.

We’ve all eaten traditional southern carrot salad with raisins and sometimes pineapple, but here is one with more savory flavors than sweet. I will eat it but it’s not my favorite salad. I’m not sure why it’s called Korean Carrot Salad because there are no non-Rockdale ingredients in it.
