T1 Energy announced a 5-gigawatt solar cell manufacturing facility at the Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics Campus at Sandow Lakes Ranch (SLR) which is projected to employ 1,800 workers by the last quarter of 2026. Construction will begin this summer.

A sesquicentennial bench will be dedicated for Dr. Lucile Estelle, Ed.D. at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24, at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library near the side door on Cameron Ave. where the bench will remain. The bench is dedicated by members of the Thursday Reading Club in memory of Dr. Estell.

Rockdale native Susan Wallis Cole will hold a book signing and reading from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 29 at Main Street Bookshop. The children’s book is called Ella and Mac Want A Dog which is about Cole’s reallife daughters, Ella and Mackinley Cole, who are determined to get a dog.

Lions Club golf tournament set for Saturday

Rockdale Noon Lion’s Club will hold its 34th annual Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament on Saturday at the Rockdale County Club starting at 8:30 a.m. Entries are limited to the first 72 players.

Members of St. John’s United Methodist Church and Alpha One Chevrolet met at Rock dale Elementary School on Monday, March 3, to read to the students. They also presented checks to the school in the amounts of $250 from St. John’s and $300 from Alpha One.
