It’s not a lazy river

I’ve been watching a lot of baseball on television this spring and summer. I only get to watch what is being broadcast on Amazon Prime Video but I catch a couple of games a week. It’s been therapeutic. Just checking out, sitting on the big brown couch and watching the boys of summer do what they do.

‘Who’s your Daddy?’

“Who’s your Daddy?” The question still gets giggles at our house. “Who’s your daddy?” The question is asked rhetorically by the younger generation as a way of asking: “Who’s your friend?” or “Who’s the winner?” or “Who’s the boss of you?” or “Who’s your better?

Broadband expansion for rural areas, and extra money for state parks One doesn’t have to look far to find bad bills making their way through the 88th Legislative session in Austin. But here are a couple winding their way through the legislative process which we enthusiastically endorse.

Before they call, I will answer

In the book of Isaiah is found this wondrous promise of God: “Before they call, I will answer, while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (65:24). I believe I can understand this promise because of a roadside experience I once had with a family of strangers. The year was 1975.

Let’s get it done

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.” (John 15:9) Iremember a man came and spoke at Rotary several years ago and he shared the quote about how we, “Win some and we lose some.” Sometimes it feels like all we do is lose.

10-20-40-100 YEARS AGO 100 YEARS AGO… A point of interest: at no time during spring was there a single wiggler found in Ham Branch or any of its tributaries. This seemed to show that the committee on malarial control had done its work well and so pronounced the Health Department in Austin.
