Deborah Grassel, Master Egg Artist, will be presenting a program at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.
Deborah Grassel was commissioned by the American Egg Board to create the 41st commemorative egg for the First Lady Melania Trump.
The Commemorative Egg is an American Egg Board tradition that began at the White House egg roll in 1977.
On April 2, the American Egg Board presented the first lady with a rhinestone-encrusted egg as part of the White House egg roll.
This year’s egg entitled “Wings of Prayer” was created by Deborah Grassel, an artist from Texas.
She was inspired by Melania Trump’s elegance in designing the egg.
While the egg is elegant on the outside, it opens to reveal an even more detailed work of art, miniature versions of President Trump and his wife.
The elegance comes to life in the ornate nature of the design, which is adorned in rhinestones.
Beautiful angel wings open to expose an intricate scene over a handmade bridge where, if you look closely, you can see a koi fish swimming in the water beneath.
Egg art has been Grassel’s predominant form of art for the past 21 years.
She obtained her Masters of Egg Art in Carving, Filigree, Beaded and Diorama and has created works of art in many other categories.
She was president of the International Egg Art Guild for two different terms and has held various official positions within the guild over the past 15 years.
