Milano ISD has announced its annual Meet the Teachers and Meet the Eagles events for the 2018-19 school year.
The Meet the Teachers will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at all three campuses. The Meet the Eagles event will be held at 7 p.m. in Geneva Paceley Gym, and will include the annual senior athlete dessert auction.
PIZZA AND MOVIE NIGHT—Friendship Baptist Church is hosting a pizza and movie night starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. The church is located on SH 36, seven miles south of Milano. The movie “Woodlawn” will be shown.
LITTLE DIGGERS— Any Milano girls in grades first through seventh that are interested in playing in the Caldwell Little Diggers Volleyball League, please contact me and I will get you a registration form. You can reach me at m_lagrone@yahoo.com or 254-718-0133.
SOCCER REGISTRATION—Gause Youth Soccer registration will be held Aug. 21, 24 and 28 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Gause Elementary School. Final registration date is 5-6:30 p.m. on Aug. 31. Registration fee is $40 per player. Games will begin in Cameron on Sept. 22. For more information, contact Lisa Koenig, 979-324-9851.
EAGLE SHIRTS—The 2018 Milano Eagles football shirts are now on sale. Cost is $12 per shirt and youth sizes are available. Contact Anna Morehead at the high school to purchase, 512-455-9333. They will also be available at the Meet the Eagles event on Aug. 16.
PARENTS CLUB—The first Milano Parents Club meeting of the new school year is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the Milano Elementary School.
RAH-RAH CAMP— Milano Eagle Rah-Rah Camp has been set for Aug. 27-29 at the elementary gym. Times are 3:30 to 5 p.m. each day. Cost is $30 per girl with siblings costing $20 each after first child paid at $30. Fee includes a Rah-Rah T-shirt.
Deadline to register is Aug. 24. There will be a sign up table at Meet the Teacher night and forms will be sent home with students the first week of school.
Camp is for girls enrolled in Pre-K through fifth grades.
KRISTI’S KRUSADERS—The annual Kristi’s Krusaders MS Rally for a cure event will be held Sept. 8 at Nat’s in Milano. This one will be for Kristi (Bode). The event will include a motorcycle run, barbecue meal, live auction, a raffle, 50/50 drawing, T-shirt sales and live music from both Brooke Graham and Chris Kleiber.

SUNFLOWER RUN/ WALK—The first Sunflower/Melodie Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund 5K run/ walk and kids one-mile fun run/walk is set for Sept. 29 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. The event is in honor of Melodie Jones who died in a car accident in 2017.
Registration is $30 for the 5K and $25 for the kids run. Online registration is at www.melodiesmeow.com. Same day registration is 7:30-8:15 a.m. The kids run will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K is scheduled for 9 a.m.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION—With the start of school less than two weeks away, it is time to start collecting Box Tops for Education for Milano Elementary School. Those little coupons equal free money for our school and students. Let me know if you need me to swing by and pick them up, or you can send them to Milano Elementary School with your favorite student.
