It may be a lot different than it was a month ago, but everything in Rockdale hasn’t stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The orders issued last week at the city, county, state and federal institutions allowed “essential” services to continue.
And they have. But, chances are, they are so essential most Rockdale and Milam County residents couldn’t conceive of their ever ceasing to exist.
Of course, a few weeks ago we felt the same way about toilet paper.
There a few of them highlighted on this page, a by-no-means exhaustive compilation of services we couldn’t live without. And that to some dedicated people we aren’t living without them.
A few more are mentioned in a Reporter editorial on page 4A.
WATER—A reminder. The City of Rockdale is taking steps to assist persons with water issues during a time when hand-washing is of preeminent importance.
The city will work with local residents to avoid shutting off their water for non-payment of bill if the customer can show need due to a COVID-19 related situation and a pledge to work out an eventual payment plan.
For specific information contact Rockdale City Hall at 512-446-2511.
