First Christian VBS set here July 22-26

First Christian Church in Rockdale will hold Vacation Bible School Sunday through Thursday, July 22-26, according to Marilyn Cates, director.

“The VBS theme will be Rolling River Rampage and children will experience the ride of a lifetime with God as they become rafters and explore and discover how to serve God,” Cates said.

Hours will be from 6 until 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and Family Night will be held Thursday beginning at 7 p.m.

“Ages are 4 years through 5th grade. Registration will begin Sunday, July 22 at 5:15 p.m. Come join the fun,” Cates said.

Two-church VBS set July 30-Aug. 2

St. John’s United Methodist Church and Peace Lutheran Church of Rock-dale will again hold a joint Vacation Bible School.

Dates are Monday through Thursday, July 30-Aug. 2, from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. Location is St. John UMC, Summit at Hillcrest streets.

Theme is Rolling River Rampage—Experience the Ride of a Lifetime with God.

All children age 3 through fifth grade are invited to participate. Activities will include Bible stories, games, crafts, recreation, snacks and more.

Christmas in July July 22 in Cameron

CAMERON—The sixth annual Christmas in July will be held at New Beginnings Full Gospel Tabernacle, 1805 W. 4th Street in Cameron on Saturday, July 21 from 1 until 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 22 at 10 a.m.

The event is free and open to all to hear anointed music and speakers.

Door prizes and refreshments will be given away Saturday.

Free family/movie night set for Friday

San Gabriel Baptist Church will host an old-fashioned family night on Friday, July 20. The movie, God Is Not Dead, Part 2 will be shown.

A light supper will be provided at 7 p.m. with the movie to follow.

“Everyone is invited to enjoy this fellowship,” said Tim Cheatham, pastor. “Weather permitting (no rain or not too hot) the movie will be shown outdoors so dress comfortably and bring your lawn chairs or on-the-ground blanket,” he said.

There is no charge for the supper and movie and no offering will be taken, the pastor said.

The church is located at 263 County Road 421A in the community of San Gabriel, six miles north of Thorndale just off FM 486 North.

Presbyterians list summer activities

First Presbyterian Church summer schedule in Rock-dale includes worship Sundays at 10:30 a.m. with a coffee gathering held the hour before.

Weekly Bible Study is led by Pastor David Pussman at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

FPC is donating water goggles to the “Community Summer Splash” event July 27 at the pool, co-sponsored by the City of Rockdale and the RISD PTO.

FPC’s fourth annual outdoor ice cream social, open to all, will be held Sunday, Aug. 19.
