Presbyterians to hold ice cream social Sunday

Members of First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa Avenue, will host their fourth annual outdoor ice cream social, open to all, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, Pastor David Pussman announced.

Summer schedule at First Presbyterian includes Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m. with a coffee gathering held the hour before.

Weekly Bible Study is led by Rev. Pussman at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

‘Preschool Discovery Days’ enrollment starts

First Baptist Church “Preschool Discovery Days” enrollment has begun and classes will begin Sept. 4 according to Janet Vaughn, director.

Classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. for ages 2 through 5, she said.

Murray Street breakfast for teachers Thursday

Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale held its annual school supply give-away Tuesday night and will hold its annual breakfast for Rockdale ISD personnel on Thursday morning.

Minister Jason Hollinger said that any remaining school supplies collected at the annual drive will be given to the teachers following the breakfast.

First Assembly sets garage sale on Sept. 1

First Assembly of God, 310 Childress Drive in Rockdale, will hold a garage sale inside its fellowship hall from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1.

Kosovo Hope speakers at Gause UMC Sunday

GAUSE—Gause United Methodist Church will host Thomas and Karen Couch and daughters Sarah, 7, and Hannah, 4, at 9:30 a.m. worship Sunday, Aug. 19.

Thomas and Karen are cross cultural workers who have lived in Kosovo since 2016, serving with a nongovernmental organization called Kosovo Hope.

They work to exchange cultures between Kosovo and the U.S., hosting exchanges of students, doctors, police officers and politicians, seeking to use connections and resources to learn from, love and serve those they encounter.
