Murray St. summer, fall full of activities

Murray Street Church of Christ had a busy, productive summer and a full fall schedule is underway, said Minister Jason Hollinger.

“Our teens and pre-teens took part in week-long June camps and some attended multiple sessions,” he said. In July, Vacation Bible School brought a rise in attendance for the third consecutive year, he said, crediting volunteers and Jason Hale, youth minister/worship leader.

“We held our yearly school supply giveaway on the final week before school started,” Hollinger said, “providing supplies to over 100 students, and two days later we provided breakfast for the Rockdale ISD staff where the remainder of the school supplies were donated to the teachers.”

Sunday night, Aug. 26, evening worship was devoted to prayers for RISD employees and students. Murray Street is holding 7 a.m. “Muffins Mondays” where students are invited to spend time in fellowship and prayer before the school begins.

At 5:30p.m. Wednesdays, youth worship (Evolve: Street Student Ministries) is held.

At 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Hollinger leads adults in a study that will cover 400 years between the Old and New Testaments. Sunday, a new series titled “Big Questions” will begin to examine questions that come up in the Bible.

Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 a.m. with worship at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., except for the 2nd and 5th Sundays when a potluck meal is held on those evenings.
