Springfield to honor pastor, wife Sunday
Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 232 East Third Street in Rockdale, will hold its 32nd Pastor Appreciation service at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20, honoring Pastor and Sister S.L. Ross Sr.
“Theme will be ‘A Worship Experience’ as we celebrate our pastor’s anniversary,” said Henry Miller, church publicist.
Bishop Ricky Ross of New Higher Dimension’s Church of Houston will be the speaker. The public is invited, Miller said.
Baccalaureate service Sunday at Meadowbrook
Rockdale Ministerial Alliance will sponsor a Baccalaureate service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, hosted by Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
“All Rockdale High School seniors and their families are invited to attend in cap and gown,” Ansell said. “Meadowbrook Baptist, the host church, will provide the music as well.”
Rev. Ansell, a former Tiger and RHS graduate, will provide the message with several students from the Class of 2018 participating.
St. John’s UMC sets graduation Sunday
St. John’s United Methodist Church, Summit at Hillcrest, will hold its annual Graduation Sunday on May 20, honoring its high school graduates. The 11 a.m. service will be followed by an all-church potluck luncheon.
Pastor Adam Straznicky also announced that St. John’s will hold its annual Memorial Day Sunday service at 11 a.m. May 27.
Murray Street lists youth camps, VBS
Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale has released a list of camps (location, dates and age groups) that its youth will attend this summer. Youth Minister Jason Hale listed them as follows:

Lake Cisco Christian Camp, Jr Camp (grades 3rd-6th) June 3-7, Eastland Church of Christ session; Sr Camp (grades 7th-12th) June 10-16, Nocona Church of Christ Session; Sr Camp (grades 7th-12th) June 17-23, Cisco Church of Christ Session.
Camp Bandina (between Bandera and Medina), camp (grades 2nd-12th) Weber Road Church of Christ Session,July 1-7.
VBS—Murray Street’s Vacation Bible School, themed “Back to the Bible” after the movie series “Back to the Future” will be held July 16-19 from 6 until 8:45 p.m., with meal at 5:15 p.m.
VBS will have classes for all ages. “Come ride along as we take our ‘DeLorean’ to Bible Times to learn about obedience, teamwork, self-control and forgiveness,” Hale said.
Rising Star BC sets VBS for July 9-13
Rising Star Baptist Church, 1055 Texas Street, has scheduled its annual Vacation Bible School for Monday through Friday, July 9-13, according to Jo Ann Bradford, spokesperson.
Theme for the VBS will be “Game On,” she said. Hours will be from 5 until 7:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served each day.
