Springfield to celebrate 152 anniversary Nov. 17
Springfield Missionary Baptist Church will hold its 152nd anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.
The speaker will be Rev. A.L. Watson, Sr. from First Baptist Church in Taylor.
The church was founded in 1872 by a small group of people under the leadership of two men, D. Tucker and J. Kendall.
In 1882, Spr ingf ield obtained land to build a church which is where the current church stands.
In 2006 the church received a historical marker from the Texas Historical Commission.
Current pastor is Rev. Rodney Geter.
