Milam County and Rockdale officials were on hand Thursday for the key presentation that officially turned over the old City Hall at Burleson and Cameron streets to the Vision Historic Preservation Foundation. The foundation has plans to restore the old building to its original glory that has been hidden and changed over the past almost 100 years.
This is how the old City Hall looked around the early 1900s when it was finally completed. The building plans were contracted March 4, 1895, with the goal of having the work finished by September. But a dispute caused the work to be stopped in August of that year and records show the building was not completed until the fall of 1901.
