The local Three Missions Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution received a grant which enabled the organization to purchase and donate books to the children's section of both the Cameron and Rockdale libraries. The books highlight the stories of the men and women who achieved American Independence. By providing these sources, the organization aims to honor the patriots and educate the communities about the origins of our nation. The book initiative aligns with the vision of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence which will be celebrated on July 4, 2026. Shown here (L-R) are DAR members Donna Diver, Alma Lue Wenzel and (far right) Leslie Watkins donating the books to Interim Library Director Karen Bryant. (Melanie Todd's replacement has not yet been hired.) The Three Missions Chapter is accepting new members. Please contact Diver at donnadiver_tx@ yahoo.com, Wenzel at lue_wenzel@yahoo.com, or Watkins at ljpwatkins1207@yahoo.com for membership information.
