Trustee race now contested in RISD

With the filing deadline set for Friday, there were several developments in the May 5 city, school and special district elections.

Rockdale got its first contested race when Ryan Warner filed for the Place 7 school board position currently held by Julia Cardona, who had previously filed.

The three other incumbents— Raymon Puente (Place 1), Troy Zinn (Place 2) and Charles Miles (Place 4) have filed.

Filing is at the Central Administration Building, 520 West Davilla.

CITY—Still no contested races in the City of Rockdale where Tim Ramey is seeking the east ward seat currently held by Willie Phillips.

Phillips has announced he will not seek another term on the council.

Monique Gebhart filed Tuesday for the west ward seat currently held by Colby Fisher, who has not fi led. Filing is at City Hall.

In the Rockdale Hospital District, incumbents Brad Masek, Terry Browning and Tom Loth are seeking new terms.

Browning and Loth are at-large candidates and Masek represents Place 3 in the west ward.

Term of Dr. Dennis Brooks (Place 1, east ward) is also expiring.

THORNDALE—The Thorndale Mayor’s race is now contested as city councilman George Galbreath filed to run against incumbent Mara McDowell.

Galbreath’s city council term expires this year.

It’s a four person race for the Thorndale City Council with incumbent Sam Pickett joined on the ballot by Allen Hejl (former mayor), Steven Zuehlke and Ashley Towery. Term of councilman Rickey Melde is also expiring.

Filing is at Thorndale City Hall.

In the Thorndale ISD, trustee Ann Glenn has filed. Adam Fisher’s term is also expiring.

Filing is at the Thorndale ISD Superintendent’s Office.

MILANO—Incumbent Edward Lenz has filed for the Milano City council. Term of Connie Seelke is also expiring.

In the Milano ISD, incumbents John Yakesch and Shawn Walton, along with Amanda Honeycutt Cain are seeking two full terms on the board.

Incumbent Michael Andrews, has filed for re-election.

Filing for both Milano elections is in the superintendent’s office.
