ORGANIZATIONS

Matinee Musical Club will sponsor Uke-Stravaganza 2 at the historic Kay Theater, 350 N. Main Street in downtown Rockdale on Sunday, Aug. 26.

“Last year’s first Uke-Stravagana was held at First Presbyterian Church with a turnout of over 100 people, despite the heaviest rainfall of the month,” said Annette Griesbach, publicist.

This year’s performance will include a short lesson for 10 interested players, age 6th grade and up, from about 1 p.m. until 1:45,” she said. “Ukuleles will be provided. This intrepid group will open the Uke-Stravaganza 2 performance.”

“Uke-Stravaganza 2 will officially begins at 3 p.m. and include performances by the Oompah Ukes, the Communities in Concerts Band, The Wilmans, and a sing-a-long,” Griesbach said.

Matinee Musical Club will provide refreshments following the performance.

“This is a free event at the Kay Theater and everyone is invited. Mark your calendars for Aug. 26 for ukulele lessons at 1 p.m. and the Uke-Stravaganza 2 performance at 3 p.m.,” Griesbach added.

Those interested in signing up for the ukulele class should send name, age, and if you need a ukulele to: info@oompah-ukes.org. The first 10 participants who need to borrow a ukulele will be registered.
